My Journey

My Journey From
Kitty to Lioness

How I Turned My Life Around with the Power of Negotiation

Imagine holding your 3-month-old son in a hotel lobby, minutes before a job interview. Imagine flying across Europe with your son and your mom, who supports you as a single parent. Imagine leaving your son with strangers you found online, who watch him while you are being interviewed. Sounds scary, right? But that’s what I did. I needed this job more than anything. And I got it. How did I do it? How did I balance single motherhood and career, while juggling three kids?

I was pregnant, divorced, and jobless and my newly constructed house was for sale - all in nine months. You might think that my life was falling apart, but I think it was falling into place. This is how I turned my life around and became a lioness.

It started with a phone call from my boss, who invited me to quit my job, focus on my kids and “relax.” He knew I was facing a bitter divorce, a high-risk pregnancy, and a financial crisis. He knew I had to sell the house I had just built with my ex-husband. What he didn't know is that he had just gave me the power to negotiate. That power changed everything.

I didn’t quit my job. I negotiated a severance package that would cover my expenses for the next six months. I asked for everything I deserved, and I got it.

I didn’t relax. I looked for a new job that would challenge me and reward me. I applied for positions that matched my qualifications and interests. I networked with people who could help me and support me. I interviewed with confidence and poise. I found a new job that offered me a 30% salary increase and a better work environment. I started my new job on the same day I was supposed to return to my old one.

I didn’t focus on my kids. I focused on myself. I realized that I had to take care of myself first, before I could take care of anyone else. I realized that I had to love myself first, before I could love anyone else. I realized that I had to empower myself first, before I could empower anyone else. I found my mantra: Never assume you’re stuck. You have the power to transform your life.

I learned to stand up for myself, to embrace my confidence, determination, and grace. I learned to be a lioness, proud of who I was, where I came from, and what I knew. I learned to support other women, like the lionesses in the wild. I learned to share my story, to inspire others, and to make a difference.

This is my mission today.

Empower women by helping them find their voice in their careers

Together, let’s unleash the Lioness in you and become unapologetically you!
